Welcome to T.I.A.

Traveling in Authenticity

My Why

Have you ever had that moment where you share the adventure story of your dreams and the person you so passionately and vividly shared this with just says “cool”?

Anyone with a wild and free spirit (which you must have too if you stumbled here) has been in a position where your favorite travel story feels a just little duller after sharing it.

It was this feeling that originally stopped me from sharing my travel stories, but it is the exact reason why I share with you now.

It took me a long time to gain the courage that I write with now and it may have taken a little longer than one would hope, but they say it’s all about the journey, right?

However I got here, I am here and showing up for you. This blog is designed to set your soul aflame.

THE MORE YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND MAKE YOURSELF UNCOMFORTABLE, THE MORE COMFORTABLE YOU’LL FIND YOURSELF IN YOUR OWN SKIN.

What is Slow Travel?

T.I.A. Intention

The intention behind T.I.A. is to give you the toolset intrinsically and extrinsically to try something new – in someplace new, and hopefully to meet someone new. And first on that list would be the adventurer in YOU.

This platform is designed to inspire and support you not only as you take your first, second or fifty-ninth trip nationally or internationally, but also come home (location agnostic homes count too) and share your travel stories with the ones that inspire you right back.

You will find travel tips and advice that will help balance your need for anywhere, while still feeling at home and grounded. You will find long-term slow travel guides,  the must-sees with tips on how to live like a local, and yogi-inspired nibbles of coming home wherever you are in the world.

Whether you are on a trip or home on the couch right now, feel free to stay here and bop around as much as you’d like. Don’t leave until you feel better than when you arrived.

Slow travel (n.) (v.)

“Slow travel” is an approach to travel that emphasizes connection to the local community, culture, food and music. It relies on the idea that a trip is meant to educate and have an emotional impact, while remaining sustainable for local communities and the environment.

My Story

I have been traveling since 2014. At first, quickly – from place to place – then more permanently, with a three year stint abroad. It wasn’t until 2020 where I am made the intentional switch to slow travel. Little did I realize, I had been slow traveling for the past four years already!

After moving back from Europe and starting my career as a healthcare consultant, the opportunity to travel again presented itself. Luckily enough for me, I never had to negotiate going fully remote with my boss, COVID took care of that for me. Come October 2020, I sold all of my household possessions and started back into my nomadic life-style, but this time more slowly. For the past two years, I have been living the digital nomad lifestyle, traveling in 30-90 day stints while still succeeding with my 9-5.

Yes, you can keep thriving in your career while traveling the world! This isn’t a story of sacrifice, but more so a story of intentional living. I am here to inspire you to keep flourishing in your career, while you travel the world, just more slowly.

This is a platform where the adventure seekers ready for slow travel can truly relish in the opportunities awaiting you. So what are you waiting for, dive in, get inspired and then get going.

Breathe deep and love BIG,

Tia
